Have You Ever Made A Quilt Of Woven Fabrics?
For some reason most quilters are afraid to work with woven fabrics. Let me remove that fear for you, they are super easy to work with, they can be mixed with your favorite quilting cottons, and once washed they are the softest quilt you will ever make. I personally lightly spray starch them before I cut them up, this makes them easier in my opinion to work with. I used the word lightly when I mention starch, meaning a light spray goes a long way, they don’t need to stand at attention once you are done. One year for Christmas I made my husband a quilt using a woven layer cake and flannel for the border and backing. Once I washed that quilt it quickly became the families favorite snuggle throw because it was so soft. When I heard Bonnie and Camille were coming out with a woven line with their signature colors I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I just knew they would be amazing.
Sadly this picture really isn’t doing them justice, they are so pretty in person, and did I mention soft! Bonnie came up with the perfect pattern called Bake a Cake. It uses one layer cake and a solid for your background fabric. The finished quilt measure 82″ by 82″
Both the Layer Cake and pattern can be found in my Esty Shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/SewBellasQuiltCart Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and make a quilt using Wovens, trust me it will be your families favorite too!
