I Know, I Said It!
Just last week I said to my friend Charlene, I'm not making large quilts anymore! I have too many and I have run out of room to display them.
So what am I doing this week??? Making a large quilt! Let me explain.
I starting making Churn Dash blocks using Flea Market Fabric by Lori Holt. With each block I made I became more obsessed with this fabric line. It was then I decided this would be my new quilt for our bed. Yes, another large quilt!
This fabric is beautiful, vintage-looking but with bright modern colors. I am using Bookkeeping from this line as the background.
Just enough character to add interest, but not take away from the main fabric.
As I started adding the Churn Dash blocks to my design wall I felt there was too much open space when the 4 blocks came together. So I used the leftover piece after cutting the corner blocks and I cut a 1.5" square.
I didn't want to make it too busy so I just added those squares to the top left and bottom right of each block. It was the perfect touch of color needed.
Making progress! Lori Holt has a great tutorial on her Youtube page for a quick method of piecing this block. You know me, I love shortcuts and tricks.
As I am piecing these blocks I am thinking about borders, I like to let the quilt talk to me as I go along. You will have to tune in later to see what the quilt actually said to me.
Both the Flea Market Fabric and Bookkeeping Background fabric can be found in my Etsy shop.
For now, stay safe and sew on!
