I have started constructing the Quilt Cottage and I am so happy with my fabric choices.
Each participant of the Sew-Along was asked to use different fabrics than what Lori used in the original quilt. I had a lot of fun picking my fabrics and I am loving how well they are playing together.
Here is a sneak peek of the fabric I pulled for the quilt. I have added a few pieces since this picture but you get the idea.
I am so glad I made a fuss about the background fabric because the one I finally ended up with is perfect!
I thought I better share some of the quilt with you, so you can get an idea of how the cottage is going to turn out (and hopefully you buy one of my kits.)
Here is a picture of the cottage all cut out. I love using my design boards, I have them in several different sizes.
Here is a tool that I use every time I sew, It's the Seam Sew Easy Seam Guide.
I have one on all three of my machines. It is such a time saver, I no longer have to mark a line for Half Square triangles, flying geese, and binding strips. The makings on the guide also help me keep a perfect 1/4 seam.
You simply line your points of the center line and sew. If the pattern calls for you to sew a 1/4 inch from the center point simply line your point on either side of the centerline. I will try and get a tutorial made using this Seam Sew Easy Guide before Amanda leaves for school.
Since I have the cottage all cut-out and my blocks are marked, it is a fast and easy sew.
Now I did say it was a sneak peek! I don't want to give too much away before the Sew Along, which starts August 7th. At least you can see how cute my cottage is going to be and the fun colors I picked out for it.
I will have the kits listed on my Etsy by Monday, the kit will include the fabric for the quilt top and the binding. The finished size is 74.5" by 89" the book will be sold separately.
I hope you are as excited as I am!
